More details on the ‘Andy Pad’ announced.

The upcoming 7"  budget tablet knows as the 'Andy Pad' today had some more details confirmed. It's still on schedule for it's release in 65 days on the 1st of September ( is that right...? ) and at the announced price of £129. They have listen to the tech community and the tablet is going to come with 512mb of Ram, rather the previously suggested 256mb. Good news. It does appear that the Andy pad will have a Resistive screen as it has always been primarily aimed at a younger market looking for a cheaper alternative/first tablet, but they HAVE listened to the tech community on this as well and will be releasing an Andy Pad Pro, with a capacitive screen and Front/rear facing camera, with more features to be revealed soon. The Pro is intended for the same release date and a 'similar' price. Hurrah. Andy Pad

CoPilot Live Premium offer

CoPilot Live Premium has just been released on Android and it is on offer for the first 7 days. During the first week you can get the SatNav full software for £14.99 - afterwards it jumps to its normal price of £29.99. Unlike Google Maps, it offers offline Navteq maps for when there is no signal, although Google Maps is free of course. And despite the new name, confusingly the Premium services, such as traffic, will cost extra (currently £9.99 a year).

Desire HD On Three Gingerbread Update

Three UK have announced this morning the 2.3 Gingerbread update is now available to HTC Desire HD customers (just to avoid confusion this is ONLY for the HD and NOT the original HTC Desire). This is a free OTA (Over the Air) update so will not need a cable to install.

If you have not already had the message then check under Settings and manually search for an update to make sure you get access to that gingerbread goodness that 2.3 has to offer you.

This update is for Three branded HTC Desire HD devices, anyone with unlocked sim free or handsets supplied by another network might have a longer wait or already be using 2.3 before now

Orange Monte Carlo listed as ‘Coming Soon’.

Following on from our earlier post here, Orange have put up a page on their coming soon section for the  Android 2.3 , 4.3" Skate. Good news as this hopefully means a release quite quickly. This eagerly awaited phone could be set to be another huge success for Orange and the phonemakers ZTE. This is the obvious successor to the Orange San Francisco ( Aka the ZTE Blade) that was very popular due to a decent specification and low low price of roughly £80, coupled with the phones openness meaning it could be Sim unlocked  and customised very easily. No prices yet, fingers crossed for another bargain..... Specification pasted below: Orange

The Daily Mash, now available for Android and iPhone

Regular readers of my little my blog may be aware of my love for The Daily Mash. It's full of smut, inneundo and abuse. It therefore makes me laugh like a loon. It's the UK's best satirical website and takes a regular swipe at the press and news events. Imagine a UK version of The Onion and you're pretty much there. :) Today they've launched their Android app. It costs £1.25 and will go alongside the existing iPhone version costing £1.79. It'll let you read their stories on the go and select the category you're interested in. They're advertising it today in their own unique style.. Here's some screenshots of the app. Do a search for "The Daily Mash" in the Market to find it.. Links - The Daily Mash - Android Market
